NEW DELHI: Prime Minister VP Singh has written to the deputy prime minister Devi Lal asking him to substantiate the charges of corruption made by him against the union ministers Arun Nehru and Arif Mohammad Kham recently.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Sunday, he said he was still awaiting a reply. Devi Lal had written a letter to the PM at the height of the party crisis last week when these two ministers had resigned Devi Lal had urged a probe into the phosphoric acid deal in which Arun Nehru was involved and the circumstances by which Khan had acquired land worth Rs 5.5 million in Ghaziabad.

The differences between Devi Lal and Commerce minister Arun Nehru over certain charges of corruption against the latter have taken an interesting turn.

Devi Lal wrote another letter to VP Singh and handed it to him at the airport.
