NEW DELHI: Prime Minister VP Singh has resigned as president of the Janata Dal party.
The prime minister submitted his resignation to the Dal secretary general, Ajit Singh, during the meeting of the political affairs committee (PAC) late Saturday.
Singh was requested by the PAC to continue to head the party till alternative arrangements were made a party spokesman, Jaipal Reddy said.
He said the prime minister decision was in accordance with his repeated declarations that he would not hold two offices.
