PATNA: V.P. Singh on Nov 23 hinted at the formation of a Left Democratic Front to safeguard the unity of the country.

A formal decision would be taken at a meeting of a joint coordination committee of Janata Dal and Left parties (Communist Party of India, CPI Marxist, Forward Bloc, Revolutionary Socialist Party) on Noy 30, he said.

Singh who arrived here Nov 23 on a four day tour of Bihar, said that it had been decided to form a coordination committee of these parties at the national and state levels.

He said that a new force other than the Congress I and the Bharatiya Janata Party was fast emerging on the national horizon, transcending political and communal barriers to safeguard the country’s unity and remove social imbalances, The CPIM Politbureau member H S Surjeet, who was also present on the occasion, said his party would like to foster national unity with the help of Janata Dal,
