AHMEDABAD PTI: About 24 Persons were injured in police firing stone throwing and lathi charge in Astodia walled city areas and other places in the city as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bharatiya Janata Party( BJP) activists tried to take out another rath yatra procession from the Jagannath temple in Jamalpur area of the city
Two persons were injured when police fired three rounds in Astodia area to disperse a group of people indulging in stone throwing while making an attempt to proceed to the Jagannath temple.
About 1800 VHP and BJP workers including 700 from the city were taken into custody from different pans of the state while taking out similar rath yatra.
Meanwhile the curfew was imposed in the areas surrounding the temple under Haveli and Ellis bridge police stations from Thursday night was lifted from 1800 hours last Friday.
