SHIMLA: A call for country-wide agitation against the places of worship (special provisions) Bill was given Saturday at the meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad governing council here.

Terming the Bill as an insult to the Hindus the VHP leaders threatened the Union government with severe consequences if the Bill was not withdrawn.

The VHP leaders instructed members of the Bajrang Dal and Durge Vahani (women force) to take to the streets in their respective states and hamper the smooth functioning of the government.

‘The leaders also believed that opposing the Bill would further strengthen the BJP the party on whom they were dependent for the construction of the temple in Ayodhya. The special invitee to the meeting Mahant Avaidnath (MP) also claimed that the Bill will further strengthens the BJP. Similar views were also expressed by the convener of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Sengarsh Samiti.
