BALTIMORE: The Sikh association of Baltimore celebrated Birth day of the Khalsa Vaisakhi on April 131991 After Shabad Kirtan by the Ragi Jatha and by the children short speeches on the significance of the Vaisakhi of 1699 Ardas was said and waak was sought.
The permission was sought for the ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new Gurdwara on 11 acres Very well attended congregation was then transported to the site by volunteers in vans and cars. Inspite of the rain and cold almost everybody reached on the spot. Ardas was again said for permission to start the ground breaking ceremony. Five elders over 70 were selected for this auspicious occasion. Out of these five there were three respected ladies and two men who showed the world still fighting for equality and equal rights that in Sikhism this right was bestowed upon by Guru Nanak Dev Jimore than 500 years ago. Although rain never stopped everybody was present at the site where Nishjan Sahib was fluttering. The ground was broken to start the construction of this new Gurdwara. This ceremony ended by the war cries of the Khalsa “Bole so nihal Satsiri Akal”.
