LUCKNOW, India: The broad-based forum will be launched by the former defense minister, Mr. Vishwanath Pratap Singh, an October 2 to channelize the popular feelings on some of the basic issues.
Mr. V.P. singh told newsmen that it was too early to expect him to launch a party or an organization, since he was expelled from the Congress (I) only four weeks ago. Nevertheless, he was busy in the process of consultation to evolve a consensus and formulate a programme.
The broad-based forum or a platform would take up the issues relating to national security, electoral reforms, democratization of political parties, curbing the influence of money power over polices and political parties, fair deal for peasants ensuring 18 reservation for Scheduled Caste, democratization of the industrial sector, restoration of basic democracies and elections to local bodies through the Election Commission.
