WASHINGTON: The State department of the United States government has issued a statement advising Americans not to visit Delhi temporarily. It states, “New information available to the United States Government suggests attack centered in New Delhi.”
This warning has been issued in the wake of the bomb attacks in Bombay where 300 people were killed and nearly 1000 injured in a series of explosions that rocked the metropolis, The Indian police are still struggling to find the brains behind the bomb attacks which have shaken the country.
It was expected that other cities might witness similar attacks and time enough Calcutta was rocked by a massive blast on the night of March 16 leading to panic in the city. According to reports coming in, 60 people were killed and about a 100 injured in the explosion. Police commissioner of Calcutta, Tushar Taludar told reporters that though the nature of the Calcutta blasts did not resemble Bombay they were keeping their options open. It is expected that the death toll in the Calcutta blast may rise as many people were still feared trapped in the rubbles.
In the meanwhile the southern state of Tamil Nadu to void off trouble in Madras has mobilized the police and paramilitary forces to be ready for any threat. The entire city police force has been put on a state of utmost alertness.
