CHANDIGARH: The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) have tum down the request of the Indian Government for terminating the membership of Khalistan. Michael Van Walt Van Parag General secretary of the UNPO in a letter to Dr.Gurmit Singh Aulakh President of the Council of Khalistan announced the decision of the organization regarding rejection of the complaint made East Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and his cabinet associates. It may be recalled that Khalistan was admitted as a full member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization on January 24,1993 after having its flag hoisted at The Hague in the Nothing the organization’s annual General Assembly UNPO members include Kurdistan Tibet and Taiwan among many others Four founding members Latvia Estonia Georgia and Armenia have already gained their independence and now possess full member ship in the United Nations. According to the report released by the UNPO India’s oppression is not isolated to the Sikh Nation. The Christians of Nagaland who were also admitted as full members of the UNPO have lived under constant oppression at the hands of the Indian Government since 1947. Since then over 100,000 Nagas have been killed by Indian forces.

Michael Parag was called by the Punjab government and was compelled by the State Chief Secretary about the termination of membership of Khalistan in UNPO. During his visit last year Michael Praag also met Simran jeet Singh Mann president of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Mr.Praag wrote Simran jeet Singh Mann is very critical of the Indian government and policy in Khalistan.
