GUWAHATIF: At least six former ULFA militants have been allegedly killed since the hardcore element in the outfit vowed to take action against ‘deserters’ for Swapping the organization’s weaponry and funds for amnesty.
ULFA Publicity Secretary Arab Hazarika had recently warned his former colleagues to return the outfit’s weapons and money that were entrusted to them. A deadline to return the money and arms was SET at March 15 and Hazarika threatened the former militants with dire consequences if it was not met.
Though none of the top surrendered militants, including Siddhartha Phukan or Munin Nabish, Chakra Gohain or Kalpajyoti Neog has been touched yet, the kidnapping of Parthapratim Bora alias Javed Bora from Dibrugarh on March 15, allegedly by hardline ULFA militants, has caused a sensation.
Parthapratim, however, had not surrendered. He was arrested by the police during Operation Rhino and was later released on bail.
