CHANDIGARH, India: The Unified Akali Dal decided to boycott the decision of the government to organize two days prayer in the memory of the persons killed in the recent violence. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Ujjagar Singh Sekhwan. The meeting attributed the killings to state terrorism let loose by the government. The meeting also condemned the inhuman treatment being given to the Sikhs in general and Sikh youth in particular. Meanwhile the Unified Akali

Dal circles described the withdrawal of Prof. Darshan Singh from Akal Takht as distorted version. Two Akali leaders, Capt. Amarinder Sing hand Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa met Prof. Darshan Singh at his residence at Zirakpur and discussed the present situation at length. Both, Mr. Dhindsa and Capt. Amarinder Singh told newsmen that Prof. Darshan Singh has not so far approached the government for any security arrangements. However the government is not eager to step in to make security arrangements on their own.

However, it is learnt that in spite of a ban on carrying guns by private citizens, still some persons are carrying the guns when Prof. Darshan Singh moves outside his house. It appears that the Unified Akal Dal and Prof. Darshan Singh have reached a secret understanding with the government about his private security arrangements.
