NEW YORK: Mike Tyson after two weeks of confusion over the postponement and rescheduling of his rematch against Razor Ruddock said he will knock him out cold on June 28
A far more subdued Tyson than the one who insulted Razor Ruddock at their last news conference nonetheless retained loads of confidence that this fight will erase any specter of the controversy raised by his initial victory.
Ruddock training in Fort Lauderdale did not participate in the news conference conducted via satellite hookup from Las Vegas Nevada where Tyson is training.
I took three days off Tyson said in shrugging off the scheduling chaos. Now the fight is on more than ever I just want to get hold of him.
Since their last hostile verbal exchange the rematch was called off because Ruddock protested a one-year suspension to his promoter Murrad Muhammad by Nevada Athletic Commission.
In their March 18 bout Tyson won in the seventh round when referee Richard Steele stopped the fight with Ruddock stunned but standing. When a post-fight brawl broke out in the ring Muhammad kicked Tyson’s trainer in the head.
The suspension struck many as severe by the boxing world’s standards and Ruddock stuck by his promoter and backed out of the flighty.
