PATIALA: Two persons, including a woman, were killed on the spot and about 30 injured, when two buses had a head on collision on the Patiala Sangrur read. The dead were identified as Surinder Ram Singh of Malwa Colony, Patiala, and an Army Jawan, Nirmal Singh of Mandwal in Kurukshetra district.
The bus going to Sangrur from Patiala hit the Punjab Roadways bus coming here from Abohar via Mukisar.
The Transport Minister Brahm Mohindra immediately rushed to the spot and supervised the arrangements for medical aid to the injured persons, ‘The Minister told newsmen that an inquiry into the cause of the accident has been ordered, The SDM, Patiala, and GR. Bansal has been appointed the Inquiry Officer. He will submit his within a week.
The Transport Minister announced a grant of Rs 25,000 each for the next of the kin of those dead. The injured will be given Rs 5,000 each. The money will be paid by the Red Cross.
