ISLAMABAD, June 20, Two people were killed and 12 wounded in shooting between police and Moslem religious protesters in Pakistan’s Punjab province, state run radio Pakistan reported tonight.
It said the clash occurred at the Western Punjab town of Leiah last night when demonstrators protesting at the detention of a religious figure attacked the police.
The demonstrators were armed with automatic weapons and explosives and the police fired in self-defense, the radio said, quoting a statement by the local administration.
