NEW DELHI (PTI): The Chief and Deputy Chief of the Indian Wing of “Babbar Khalsa International,” were killed by security forces in Punjab.

Security forces claimed a major success with the elimination of the Babbar Khalsa chief identified as Harbans Singh alias Bansa and deputy chief Kesar Singh, unearthing a plot to assassinate Punjab chief minister Beant Singh and Punjab police chief K.P.S.Gill.

The Deputy, Inspector General (Ludhiana Range), Chander Shekhar told reporters on Wednesday that the security forces shot down the two militants in separate encounters in the district last week.

The DIG informed that Harbans Singh was the chief coordinator of the militant outfit in India and had made an elaborate plan to assassinate Punjab chief minister Beant Singh and director general of police KP.S.Gill.

In another encounter in the same district, security forces killed the deputy chief of the same outfit, Kesar Singh, and his two accomplices in a gun batlle near Khasi Kalan village, Shekhar said.
