SRINAGAR: The Station Engineer of Snnagar, Doordarshan, S.P.Singh, was killed when Alomar Mujahideen militants fired a rocket at the Kendra building here on Nov.25. Elsewhere, in the Valley, life was crippled due to a bandh called by the Kashmin Huriyat Conference. Six members of a family and two militants were among nine persons killed and six others were injured last week.

The Kashmir Hurriyat Conference has asked people to. Continue their normal activities, but appealed to them to march to Hazratbal shrine and also start migration across the border, if the security forces bunkers were not removed by December 7.

Official sources said on Friday that bodies of six members of a family were recovered from their house at Haihama in the frontier district of Kupwara. However, the cause of their death was not immediately known. An official spokesman said militants fired a rocket, possibly from across the Jehlum, at the high security Doordarshan building around 9 pm in an attempt to blow it up and stall the programs. It, however, hit the residential quarters inside the Doordarshan complex killing Station Engineer Surinder Pal Singh (51), a resident of Delhi.
