NEW DELHI: The 11-member Indian table tennis team returned here after making significant improvements in the teams’ standings at the world championships held in Cuba.

The men’s team hoisted its position from 32nd in the 1989 world championship at Dortmund (Germany) to 26th while the women jumped up from 31st position to 23rd.

The team included five men players four women one Chinese coach and one delegate

Sujoy Ghorpade one of key members of the squad said but for a bad draw in the first stage the men’s team would have finished better.
