LUCKNOW: Theologian, scholar and chief of AllIndia Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Syed Abul Hassan Ali Nadwi alias Ali Millan, has condemned the formation of a trust headed by the four Shank arachary as to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Ali Mian, who is the rector of the Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulamia, One of the biggest Islamic theological centers in the world, is among the most credible spokespersons of the Muslim community.

About the Trust he has said: “I have not gone into the details of the proposed trust, since 1 have just returned from a long stint abroad. I declare that the (Babri) mosque should not have been demolished, but since it was, only demolished, but since it was, only another mosque should be rebuilt ‘On that site and not a temple, no matter who constructs it.”

He has demanded that the so-called makeshift temple that arose on the debris of the Babi mosque should be demolished to make way for the rebuilding of another mosque.

Ali Mian has warned that if cither the Shankaracharyas sponsored trust or the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)supported Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas began construction work, “the appropriate Muslim organizations, opposing the demand for the temple, will begin an agitation.”

His objections to the still unregistered temple trust, he said; were ‘On two counts, One, that any such decision should have been after the verdict of the Supreme Court on the Presidential reference on whether a Hindu temple or any Structure had existed before the mosque. The apex court is expected to’ deliver its verdict by end October.

Secondly, he said the Prime Minister and his “advisors,” who had engaged in behind the scenes activities on the Trust, “should have taken the consensus of the Hindus, instead of paving the way for a Trust represented” a handful of Hindus.” He also questioned the basis for their selection.

Asked if a trust with the “desired consensus and representation” would be acceptable to him, Ali Mian replied, “No Muslim would accept any trust. Nothing short of & mosque at the site is acceptable to them.”
