AGARIALA: The week-long agitation of the non-gazetted policemen and home guards in Tripura virtually fizzled out on Nov. 16 following the arrest of their leader, Prabir Das Chowdhury, along with two others under the National Security Act (NSA).

According to official sources, Das Choudhury, convener of the Tripura Joint Agitation Committee, and two other leaders were taken into custody by Para-military forces.

Das Choudhury did not offer any resistance and the crowd dispersed after he was taken away a jeep escorted by armed guards. ‘The agitating policemen had assembled at the ground to chalk out their next program.
