Trial of Sikh Hijackers Pakistan Anxiety to Placate India
Pakistan’s decision to put Sikh hijackers to trial is seen as its desire to placate India in order to reduce the risk of invasion by India. Pakistan feels too much stretched by its involvement in Afghan affairs. Lakhs of Afghan refugees have sought shelter in Pakistan. Among the refugees are Russian spy’s who are indulging in acts of sabotage by blowing up bridges and hitting other important installations. Pakistan is aware of the Russian plan to further dismember it. Rajiv’s likely tilt towards America has unnerved Pakistan to a point of panic. It feels isolated and forsaken, hence the anxiety to remain on the right side of India.
