NEW DELHI: The Indian Govt has decided to provide Black Cat commando security at the US embassy and UK high commission here. This is in addition to the security for visiting VIPs and their families.

This it says being done in view of the increased security threat from the militants in Kashmir and Punjab, the Govt says. Most of these organizations are known to have supporters and sympathizers abroad. The intelligence agencies decided on such a security cover by trained personal following the kidnaping and subsequent release of Dr. Rubiya, the daughter of the Union home minister in Srinagar earlier this year.

Observers feel this is again a well-planned move to bring a bad name to Sikh and Kashmiri freedom fighters that have never targeted any foreigner far less a US embassy.

If some of the next of kin of VIPs living abroad have been identified as Soft Targets and extra security is being arranged for them. What has surprised official circles is the decision to Post SPG commandos to begin with,

The SPG was raised by a special act of parliament to provide security to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. When the Janta Govt came to power last year it was suggested that it be disbanded and the men sent back to their original units, But due to the increase in militant activity the decision was deferred.
