By Our Correspondent NEW DELHE Arranging for fugitives to escape, posting agent provocateurs in demonstrations outside the consulate, firing at demonstrations and blowing up a plane so that Sikhs could be shown as terrorists and their legitimate movement for Khalistan could be painted as a “terrorist” movement were amongst the main occupations of Indian diplomats in Canada according to an article in India Week Tabloid published here.
The article by Zuhir Kashmiri of the Globe and Mail, covers the activities of Indian diplomats stationed in Canada from 1982 to 1986 and details the Canadian Intelligences investigations into their nefarious activities.
Commenting editorially the paper cautions the Indian Government against its moves abroad. “Such activities could cause great embarrassment at an appropriate stage. Ottawa may create swere embarrassment for Delhi it says, “It will be better the Indian government ended covert activities and disinformation operation while it can.”
The article starts with the case of Kuldip Singh Samra who opened fire in front of the Ontario Supreme Court and killed two people crippling a guard.
Samra had lost his case challenging the elections of a Gurdwara. He fled from the scene and the Canadian intelligence believed that he escaped to New Delhi through California and Middle East.
Toronto police revealed that Samra was a welcome guest at the local Indian Consulate and frequented the home of Vice Consul! who had helped develop police intelligence as so called trouble makers in the Sikh community.
