AMRITSAR: Akali Dal (Badal) senior leader Gurcharan Singh Tohra was unanimously reelected president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the 20th meat the SGPC general house meeting held at the Teja Singh Samundari Hall here on Oct.31

His name was proposed by Major Singh Uboke, former senior vice president and seconded by Baldev Singh Sibia, former president SGPC and Darshan Singh Issapur. No other name was proposed for the post of president. Onkar Singh Mattenangal of the Akali Dal (Longowal) was unanimously reelected senior vice president while Ranjit Singh Bhawanigarh and Ajit Singh Ariana were elected junior vice president and general secretary respectively of the SGPC.

The following were unanimously elected on the 11 member execu live committee: Major Singh Uboke, Mal Singh Ghuman, Kartar Singh Takkar, Sarup Singh Dhesi, Hazara Singh Wadala Jagir Singh Tanda, Sarwan Singh Hawas, Darshan Singh Issapur, Hakam Singh Grewal, Thakar Singh Khamanoand Joginder Singh Jogi. The election was held under tight security since the police laid a siege of the Golden temple com plex, T A perusal of the elected office bearers and executive committee members revealed that the Acting Jathedar has made an attempt to record representation to every Akali faction to give the new body a composite shape.
