CHANDIGARH: As the Punjab government moved into action to ascertain the police officers who went to Bhopal along with Director General of Police K.P.S. Gill Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gurcharan Singh Tohra and Akali Dal (Amritsar) ad hoc committee member Simran jit Singh Mann demanded the dismissal of Gill under Section 311. According to sources only three officers including Gill had taken the permission of the state government for going to Bhopal.
The sources said Chief Minister Beant Singh was pained at the man-handling of Delhi based media persons by Gills security men He has discussed the incident with some senior officers in the civil administration. Chief Secretary A.S. Chatha has talked to the DGP.
Sources did not rule out action against the erring officials more so in the wake of intervention by the Union Home Minister S.B.Chavan
Mann said every act of omission and commission by Gill used to be ignored on the plea that he was fighting the nations battle. He said Gill was responsible for the elimination of some advocates and media persons. He mentioned the name of Sangrur journalist Ram Singh Billing missing for the last two years
