Immediately after India’s Independence the fundamentalist Hindus leadership failed to fulfill the promises that they made to Sikhs and other minority communities during India’s freedom movement.

India’s classic betrayal of Sikhs and other minorities was not limited to the lack of fulfillment of promises to the Sikhs and other minorities.

Instead, every year the communal fundamentalist leadership accelerated their aggression to suppress the minorities by passing legislation which favored the Hindu majority at the expense of Sikhs and other minorities. Legislation passed by the Hindu majority made Sikhs and others as second class citizens of the county for which they had made the ultimate sacrifices when Sikhs asked for equal protection and equal rights they were labeled as separatists and terrorists.

Since Sikhs were the only minority community who were raising a voice resistance lo Hindu fundamentalism and aggression the fundamentalist made Sikhs a prime target. In June 1984 the Hindu fundamentalist aimed to silence Sikhs forever by destroying holy shrines with an attack of tanks and artillery including attacking Harminder Sahib.

Many watched this example of Hindu fundamentalism against the Sikhs silently. But in Dec.1984, the WSN was established with the Objective to bring to light the injustices and the crimes committed by the Indian government against the God loving and freedom loving Sikhs.

In spite of its limited resources the WSN has raised its voice to the world against the agents of injustice whose crimes against Sikhs and other minorities cannot go unreported.

To my knowledge this is the only newspaper that speaks for the oppressed, and places Human Rights in front of any individual business or organization.

WSN’s objective is to develop human dignity and liberty. Because the management of WSN has adhered to the objective, 1 have full confidence that they will continue on the same path. WSN has my best wishes and whole hearted support I urge all freedom loving people Sikhs and non-Sikhs to support W.S.N. and World Sikh Organization. Gurcharan S. Dhillon President WSO USA.
