NEW DELHI; A fool-proof security cover is to be given to VIPs in and around the Indian Parliament. It will be complete with close circuit TV cameras roving searchlights and special commandos with sniffing dogs.
These measures are part of a recently approved 60 million rupee perspective plan. The self-Contained and well-equipped Parliamentary Security along the lines of the Special Protection Group ($PG) would also include better communication equipment with a centralized control room and bullet-proof glass in the visitors’ gallery in both Houses of Parliament according to official sources.
Other features include setting up of X-Ray scanners at the entrances of Parliament House and the Annex where important functions are held positioning of two technical teams equipped with explosive detectors mine sweepers electronic stethoscope search mirrors bomb blankets gas detectors and bullet-proof jackets.
The plan envisages specialized training to the Watch and Ward staff of Parliament provision of at least ten powerful binoculars for security staff deployed on the roof tops and watch towers in and around the perimeter walls.
