ANANTNAG: With about 5,000 persons on the move every day for about two weeks through a hilly terrain, stretched over more than 100km from Khanabal to Amarnath Cave, even a lay man could realize how easy it was for militants to strike and disrupt the pilgrims’ progress.
How difficult, it implies, then, must have been the task of the security forces personnel to prevent any attack on the yatra.
The security forces were firm in allowing movement of vehicles only in convoys, which were well escorted.
