NEW DELHI: Over 500 Tibetans settled in various parts of India held a peaceful demonstration here Thursday to protest against the continued Chinese presence in Tibet.
The demonstrators, led by the chairman and the members of the assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies, carried banners and placards. They were addressed by N.C. Gyatso, chairman of the assembly of Tibetan People’s Duties, who expressed serious concern over the situation in Tibet.
Among the prominent Indian speakers were Janata Dal members of Parliament S.P. Malviya and Harsh Vardhan and rightwing Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Krishan Lal Sharma.
