LONDON. : The leader of the fundamentalist Hindu right wing Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. LK. Advani, in an interview to a weekly here said that the Indian government had been “soft” towards Sikhs.

The BJP president said that India should suppress the Sikhs like the Chinese had crushed its students in Tiananmen Square in 1989,

The BJP has a sizable strength in Parliament and has propped up the National Front government with support from outside, the party is known for us pro Hindu stance on all issues but is particularly strident in opposing Sikhs and Muslims.

Advani also said that Punjab will not get any special status and the special status for Kashmir would soon be abrogated.

The BJP is also embroiled mostly behind the scenes in the Babri Ram Janam bhoni controversy in which a historic 14th century mosque is sought to be demolished.
