 VANCOUVER: Guru Nanak, the founders of Sikhism, was born in 1469. He undertook long journeys to far off places like Ceylon, Burma, Tibet, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Egypt to spread his gospel of love, equality, honest earning, oneness of God, oneness of human race, truthful living and service 10 mankind, he The Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Scripture of the Sikhs, contains 976 hymns of Guru Nanak written in different meters and Ragas. Guru Nanak urges man to live a purposeful, useful, active, effective, successful and peaceful life in accordance with the will of God. Superstitions, ritualism and meaningless formalism have no place in his Faith.

Some of his spiritual gems of thought are given hereunder: * God is one. His name is Eternal truth, He is the Creator. * He who remains in fear of God becomes fearless.

* One who recognizes God’s command enjoys continuous happiness and peace of mind.

* One who wins his self wins the world.

* Silence is best where you will lose by speaking.

* One reaps what one sows, one eats what one earns.

* Truth cures everything, it washes away our Sins

* Truth is higher, but higher still is the truthful living.

* Falsehood exhausts itself, truth wins ultimately.

* The Name of God is the only remedy for the suffering humanity.

* They who love God, love everybody.

* He alone has found the right path that eats what he earns through honest labor and shares his earnings with others. * You cannot attain heaven without good deeds.

* God does not mind our caste or birth, so let us learn the way of truthful living.

* Charity should be given with wisdom.

* The world is destroyed through strife and regrets the errors it has made. Rs * Sweetness and humility are the essence of all virtues.
