CHANDIGARH: Narain Kaur a 78-year-old sought a direction from the Punjab and Haryana High Court here last week that her son Mohkam Singh president of Babbar Akali Dal be tied in a high security jail atone place only. Mohkam Singh was arrested from Delhi and handed over to the Punjab Police. The petitioner alleged that whenever police remand of her son used to end he was implicated in a new case. Fight cases have since been registered and most of them being blind cases where neither name of the accused nor identity had been mentioned.
The counsel for petitioner pleaded that wife of Mohkam Singh disappeared on June 1,1993 and a habeas corpus petition for her recovery pending in the Supreme Court had not yielded any result as yet. It is necessary for the safety of Mohkam Singh that he be detained at one place and tried for all the cases there itself.
