The Sikh nation has spoken. These elections were clearly a referendum for freedom and sovereignty for Khalistan. All candidates backed by militants have won with record mandates whom the government of India chose to call terrorists were the very ones the people chose as their leaders with overwhelming mandates.
The call to boycott the poll was well received initially in a clear affirmation that the Indian parliamentary process did not have an answer to the Sikh demand. But impatience to tell fascist Delhi their mind eventually won out.
Another good thing, the impression that Akalis have mass support has been dispelled. The lifting of this winter fog has revealed that the people know the Akalis to be self seeking, power hungry opportunists. The day of the Barnalas and Talwandis is over. Their place has been consigned to a grey chapter of Sikh history.
Militants, individuals with family and personal sacrifice who placed the path above themselves have been given the stamp of approval. The Sikhs have done well to tell Hindu Delhi of their honest and legitimate intentioned masse.
A clear indictment is seen of Akalis of every shade and color. They have fooled the people long enough with nonissues and petty wrangling. The vote was for anew polity based on genuine Sikh values.
An accord with a propped up Sikh leader will be foolishly repetitive and will not be accepted. The Lingual accord is dead.
The new leaders we hope are better students of contemporary history and are not condemned to repeat past mistakes.
This was no ordinary victory, no individual has won; the aspirations of the sikhs as a nation which cannot be denied have triumphed.
