Two mighty men in the prime of their lives have made the supreme sacrifice, happily, willingly and triumphantly. By their unflinching faith, and their unfailing love for their Guru and by mocking death, they have brought back the memories of Sir hind of Mata Gujri and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh + tender in age but mighty in strength and light of their father.

Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda as they were known with affection, were two great sons of Guru Gobind Singh who have shown that physical death is not be feared, and life, however short has to be lived with such firm conviction that death cannot take away that is ‘real and immortal.’ Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda are not dead, they will live in the hearts of millions. By the execution of India, tried to strike fear in the hearts of Sikhs, but it has failed miserably. By this gruesome act, it claims to have done justice for its citizens (yet none of those guilty in the 1984 massacre of the Sikhs in Delhi have been punished), it has only shown its double standard. If this gesture was an attempt to integrate Sikhs with the Hindu majority, it failed India has now widened the gulf that it had created by attacking the holiest of the holy shrines of the Sikhs the Golden Temple.

As Sikhs followers of Guru Gobind Singh we need to stop and think as to what our duties are toward the Sikh nation. The supreme sacrifice made by these wo brave sons of Punjab, must not get lost in the blood stained history of

India. We had Shahidi Diwans as we have at Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, in loving memory of Bhai Gurjant Singh Budh Singh Walla, Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Rashpal Singh, last Sunday, and then we gathered at G.G.S.P. Gurdwara on the evening of Oct.8,1992, to pray for Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda’s Chardi Kala as they were getting ready to embrace martyrdom and indeed our prayers were answered.

My cell is to the leaders of Sikh, Jathedas to joint hands, to shed off their egos and come under the banner of Guru Gobind Singh and march together toward our common goal freedom, equality and justice for all humanity. If we allow our Guru’s love to take roots in our hearts, no one will be able to “divide and enslave us.”

As Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sethi, while quoting Soru Kier Kaard said at a Shahidi Diwan at G.G.S.F.

The tyrant dies, and his rule ends, and the martyr dies and his rule begins.”

Truth of these lines in shining through the smiling eyes of Bhai Sukhdev Singh ‘Sukha’ and Bhai Harjinder Singh ‘Jinda.  Dr.Surjit Kaur Secretary Guru Gobind Singh Foundation
