Sir,
In spite of a new government in India, the killings in Punjab go on. A new Sikh Member of Parliament, J.S. Khudian has been murdered. Staged police encounters are still being reported.
Nothing is changed.
India continues losing its credibility as a free nation because India is not just. There is widespread torture and extrajudicial killings carried out by the police. The police in Punjab are increasingly taking the law into their own hands and murdering suspects.
Torture appears to be widespread in Punjab. Deaths in police custody are common … at least a hundred case a year. There is more to democracy than holding elections. Freedom is more than that. Justice has to be seen and done. Without that there is no justice or freedom. There cannot be democracy where there is no freedom.
This is a formal request to all in the free world to raise their voices against this injustice. Voice your concern. Write a protest to the Prime Minister of India. Ask your own government to intervene, Write Amnesty International requesting more investigation and more reports. It is only by working together that we can hope to build enough strength, to make this a better world for all our children
