THE FACE OF DEATH: A young man being picked up for ‘questioning’. Most taken away like this end up ‘killed in an encounter’. The bodies are never returned to relatives as the victims ‘could not be identified.’ Morale among the policemen is high. They murder, rape, loot not because they are taking advantage of the terrible situation in Punjab, it is what they are sent to do. This proved to be the ugly reality when Sikhs refused to bow to Hindu chauvinism.
