The members of the Panthic Committee held a meeting on the eve of the attack on Darbar Sahib 10 years ago and Bhai Wassan Singh Jaffarwal issued the following statement It is with pride and joy that we remember and salute our national heroes Shaheed Jarnail Singh Bhindran wale Shaheed AMRIKH Singh Shaheed Amrit Singh And many others who Laid down their lives in defending the honor and rights of the Sikh people when attacked by the Indian Army in June 1984

Sant Jarnail Singh and his associates had gathered at Set Akal Takht sahib and were discussing debating and promoting Sikh ideals and values They were also urging Sikhs to raise their consciousness regarding their own social economic and political structures in order to defend and develop their Sikh way of life These Sikh nationalists were articulating the concerns the grievances and aspirations of the Sikh people and advocated that it was imperative to emancipate themselves from Delhi’s economies dominance and political control. The resultant awakening of the Sikhs mobilized them to exercise their right of self-determination in order to obtain justice and freedom. This posed a threat to the hegemony of the colonial masters at Delhi and they started a campaign to desired it Sant Jarnail Singh and his associates by referring for them as extremists militants religious fanatics and terrorists The attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984 by the ruling Indian elites was intended to destroy the Sikh national library museum historic buildings and the Akal Takht (Sikh political headquarters) and Wo suppress the growing aspirations of the Sikhs for a national homeland. From the destruction of our national institutions and from the blood and Lashes of the defenders of our civilization arose the Phoenix of Sikh social and political revolution. Events over the last decade have shown that the Sikhs have emerged as they have always done throughout their history with greater determination and zeal to wage a resistance struggle to free them from the yoke of Delhi domination.

The Panthic committee appeals to the Sikh people to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the attack of Sikhdom’s to pay homage to our martyrs and to reflect and learn from the lessons of the past In order to further intensify our struggle to achieve our objective of national independence.
