BANCKOK, Aug. 9, Reuter: Thai and Laotian troops fought a fierce six hour battle for control of a disputed border area over the weekend, Thai officials said.

They accused two hundred Laotian troops of intruding into Thai territory and burning down 15 huts in a Hmong Hill tribe village in what Thailand claims as part of Phitsanuloke province.

Two Thai soldiers were wounded during the all-night battle, which began late on Friday, officials said.
