NEW DELHI: The name of the beneficiaries of the Rs 160 corer kickbacks in the Bofors scandal are expected soon.
The Swiss Justice Dept. which requested and received a formal letter of rogatory from the Indian government will take a decision on the disclosures in a day or two. This information will be conveyed to the Indian official’s team in Switzerland. The team comprises the additional solicitor general Arun Jaitly and DIG K Madhavan of the CBI. The two flew to Switzerland on Wednesday with the letter.
The accounts in question in Geneva have been frozen by the Swiss authorities.
A section among the Congress earlier confident that the names would not be disclosed now show signs of panic. In fact senior Congressmen are said to be desperately trying to delay the CBI probe.
