SHIMLA: A team of 12 naval divers and three dam experts reached the site of the blockade caused by a landslip on the Sutlej river at Bhabhanagar on July 17 and started the initial survey work.

The actual work of removing the blockade would begin only the next day, an official spokesman said Saturday.

The blockade that occurred on July 9 resulted in the formation of a lake. “The water level stands at 14.94 meters, which is the level at which the turbines are,” a spokesman of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said the situation at the blockade site was precarious as there was threat to the dam.
