CHANDIGARH: Punjab’s Industry Department has revealed that hardly 25% to 30% Punjabis were employed in the industry located in Punjab while the remaining work-force came from other states.
The department therefore proposed that while formulating a new industrial policy and announcing enhanced incentives for the states industry it should be made compulsory for industrialists to employ 75% Punjabis as their work force A high level meeting of officers connected with industry however shot down the proposal saying that no such compulsion should be introduced The matter is now likely to go to the state cabinet for final decision.
