NEW DELHI: The Indian Hockey Federation expressed surprise that players are not happy because the JHF has not kept its promises. The IHF president R.Prasad said that he was unaware of the “un-kept” promises “whatever promises the [HF made to the players it has kept” He was surprised that the IHF was being held responsible for the “meager” foreign exchange allowance given to the players of foreign tours.
He disclosed that soon after the team returned from Ipoh each member of the squad was givenRs.1 000 each by the IHF to compensate them for the “meager” daily allowance they got in Ipoh.
Regarding nonpayment of Rs. 1 lakh which the IHF had announced for the team for winning the Azlan Shah Trophy Prasad said “It is amazing that some people are out to create confusion whenever Indian hockey shows sign of improvement and progress”
