CANDIGARH, India: S. Sukhdev Singh consultant Editor of Dignity and former correspondent of The Tribune was refused bail by the Supreme Court of India, S. Sukhdev Singh had moved a petition against the judgment of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and He was arrested for reproducing an article published by the Dalit Voice of Bangalore. Interestingly the Editor of Dalit Voice was not arrested for publishing the original article on Khalistan, The court, however directed the Union Territory police to put up the challan in the court and the ‘court has been advised to decide the case within one month.

‘Arrest and continued detention of such a senior journalist has created a good deal of resentment in journalistic circles of India and is interpreted as a dictatorial gaging of the freedom of press.
