New Delhi — The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to the governments of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh on a writ petition filed by Mrs. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, social worker, alleging that some children who were released by the court last September have been rearrested.
The Court had released four women and 22 children, aged one to 16, who were pilgrims to the Golden Temple during Operation Blue Star. But some of the children were re-arrested, according to the petition.
The petition also alleges torture of detainees in Ladha Kothi in Sangrur jail. Several of them have filed statements before the session’s judge of Patiala who had an enquiry into the allegations.
