KAPURTHALA: Sukhjinder Singh, a senior Akali leader and former education minister who recently resigned from the primary membership of Akali Dal (Badal), has decided to join hands with the other factions of the Dal. Sukhjinder Singh said he would be attending the meeting of the common front of Dal being held in Jalandhar regarding distribution of seats for the SGPC polls. He disclosed that he would campaign for the candidates put by the common front. When asked whether he would join in any of the Akali Dal or float his own party Sukhjinder Singh said this would be decided only after the elections,

He supported the ideology of BSP supremo Kansi Ram and said that the “Manuvad” theory has failed to deliver the goods in the present times. Lashing out at Parkash Singh Badal and Gurcharan Singh, Tohra, the former education minister said both Badal and Tohra had eroded the credibility amongst the party members and blamed Tohra for the rampant corruption prevailing in the SGPC. Giving reasons behind his resignation, Sukhjinder Singh said the present Akali leadership had failed to inspire confidence and recognition of services of Akali workers. Instead of adhering to the code of conduct formulated by them, they issued SGPC tickets and accepted gratification arousing wide spread resentment among the party cadre.
