CHANDIGARH India: S. Sukhdev Singh Consultant Editor Dignity Chandigarh was acquitted by a special court Judge Mr. SK. Bansal of cases registered against him by the local police under section four of the Terrorists Affected and Disturbed Areas Act and section 124 and 153 of the Indian penal code Ina note submitted by his counsel to the Judge S. Sukhdev Singh explained that since the author of the article that was reproduced in Dignity had expressed regrets over his article originally published in Dalit Voice he regretted its publication in Dignity.
Sukhdev Singh argued that the Views expressed in the article published in March 1985 issue did not reflect his own views. He also stated in the note that he had all along been a supporter of more powers to the States. It may be recalled that the author of the article Mr. TS. Rajshekhar was arrested on August 12 but was released a few days afterwards on tendering an apology. S. Sukhdev Singh however was arrested in March and was kept in Burail Jail in Chandigarh since then.
