HAWKINS, Texas: SIFE Students in Free Enterprise at Jarvis Christian College had a very successful get acquainted’ « luncheon with the Business Advisory Board members on November 20, 1986. Mr. Matt Hopkins introduced the members of the Business Advisory Board that were present. Mr. Anthony Lewis introduced the SIFE officers and members of the Jarvis Chapter. He also introduced members of the faculty, staff, administration and SIFE sponsor. Miss Valerie Johnson introduced SIFE’s completed and planned projects. Misss Joanner Hawkins pointed out SIFE’s budget resources and shortage of funds needed for the program. The first prize winning project’s video was shown to the group to make it known to them what kind of work is expected from the competitive SIFE teams.
Each person was impressed by the SIFE program, its objectives, organization, and presentation.
Each person enjoyed the delicious food and service provided by Mr. Cook’s staff. The response was gratifying. Mr. Lonnie Laughlin, member of the Business Advisory Board remarked that Free Enterprise is the “successful system and is able to provide the world’s highest standard of living to its members”. He also mentioned that Soviet Union has recently decided to real low the role of Free Enterprise in their country. Honorable Thomas D. Sexton, Mayor of the city of Hawkins, reiterated and remarked that he supports Free Enterprise and SIFE members in their effort to promote Free Enterprise System. Mr. Pritpal S. Chatha, SIFE sponsor, thanked students, especially, Ron C. Bell, Roy Watcher, Faculty, Dr. L.B. Holmes, Division Chairperson, Administration, Dr. Lee Hensley, Mr. Autry Acrey, and Members of the Business Advisory Board for their cooperation and encouragement in participating in the SIFE program
