SRINAGAR (PTI): A militant sponsored strike paralyzed normal life in Indias Kashmir valley while six persons were injured and four suspected subversives arrested on Aug.27.

Shops and business establishments remained closed and transport was off the roads throughout Kashmir including capital Srinagar in response to the call given by outlawed Hizbul Mujahideen to “mourn” the death of five top militants of the outfit in an encounter with security forces at Hygam in Baramulla district recently. Government offices, banks, post offices, educational institutions and other semi-government establishments also remained closed.

Two persons who were travelling on a scooter were seriously injured when a land-mine planted by militants exploded at Barzulla on Srinagar-airport road Aug.27. Condition of one of the injured was stated to be “critical,” official sources said.
