AMRITSAR: The AISSF (Manjit) for the first time appealed to the militant organisations to stop killing of innocent persons in Punjab.
In a resolution adopted at its executive meeting held at Tarn Taran, the federation said that killing of innocent men, women and children, farmers, labourers, police and home guards personnel was a matter of “grave concern” since they were killed without proving their “guilt.” “These killings are based on misunderstanding and petty matters and thus harming the ‘Sikh struggle,” the resolution released to the Press said.
In another important decision the federation evolved a five point programme to check increased incidents of extortations and lootings and to “save the Sikh youth waging the Sikh struggle from getting the blemish.” Under the programme all the office bearers, including working committee members and district presidents, have been asked to submit within a month the details of their property and business to the head office, to form three member committees at each district headquarters to make contact with the victims of extortions and lootings in order to identify the persons responsible for it.
The federation appealed to the people to report the cases of forced collections of funds by any federation member and resolved to open an antiextortionist cell at the district headquarters.
It also decided to set up a two member secret team to contact the militant organisations to stress on them to denounce persons responsible for such crimes.
