By WSN Sports Correspondent SOUTHHALL (England): An International Kabbadi tournament will be held on August 5th and 6th of this year. Teams from Pakistan India, USA, Canada, Australia and the hosts England are participating.
The sponsors of the tournament are the Indian sports and cultural Association of England, At its meeting on May 13th 1989 the chairman Mr. Joginder Sangar said this is amodest step in promotion of kabbadi as a Olympic game, An official invitation has ‘been extended to Pakistan’s President Benazir Bhutto and the Punjab Kabbadi team in India. Mr. Sangar added that the trip of these two teams (Pakistan and Punjab India) will be bome by his association,
The winners of this tournament will be awarded a cash prize of $15,000 (Rupees two lakhs) and the runner up $7,500 (Rupees one lakh). Food will be served by the local Sikh temples.
The organizers feel this will be a unique Kabbadi tournament that will have participating teams from all over the world, and the fans are in for some rich feast of Kabbadi.
