LONDON: David Gower sacked as England Cricket Captain three years ago, returned to power.
The test and County Cricket Board announced on Wednesday morning that he Leicestershire captain will be in charge for the forthcoming Ashes series against Australia.
The 32 year old left handers contract also takes in next winters tour of the West Indies.
New chairman of selectors Ted Dexter wants to bring an air of continuity to the England set up after last summer’s farce of four captains and more than 30 players, The appointment of Gower for six Test against Australia and five against the West Indies is the first step in the direction.
The laidback stroke maker, who led England 26 times before being dismissed during the home series with India, became a reading candidate as soon as Dexter took over.
